January Favourites

It's nearing the end of the month so we thought we would do a post, at the end of each month, together reviewing the things we have loved! It can be anything from beauty to music.

First it is BEAUTY!
I have purchased the Wake Me Up Rimmel Foundation in True Ivory 103.
I was a bit worried as it looks orange in the bottle but it is a perfect match. I have medium skin with rosy patches and it covers really well. If you are prone too oily skin then make sure to cleanse and moisturise your face to first or it will gather around those areas and leave shiny and orange patches.  It has SPF 15 and is very light weight so for days out in spring and summer it will be perfect.
It is very long lasting and for £6.99 from Boots it is a massive bargain!

I also decided to try the Bourjois Paris Colour Boost chubby crayon. It claims to be waterproof and that it will last up to 10 hours. I'm not sure that is 100% true but it definitely lasts a lot longer than my other lipsticks. The colour is so vibrant but without being too in-your-face. I got 2 quite summery colours but they are still good for winter as they are very moisturising. This is perfect as I suffer with very bad dry lips. I got 04 Peach On The Beach, this is a light baby pink. I couldn't resist trying the coral Orange Punch it isn't too bright but is definitely going to be perfect for summer! They are on special offer at Boots so go get them whilst you can as they are a bit more expensive at around £7.50.

When it comes to hair care Isabelle and I are very fussy. We struggle to get our hair properly volume-ed.  Most products leave my hair feeling all knotty and powered. I decided to purchase the Lóréal Paris Studio Line Txt Volumizing Super Spray. It was only like £3.00 in Superdrug and oh my what a bargain. It does everything it claims too. It leaves my hair properly volumised without having to back-comb it which is not good for it at all. The can is so big i've had it for over a month now, using it nearly every day, and I am no where near finished. If you worry about flat hair then you definitely need this product in your life!

My top favourite  is the Blistex Daily Lip Conditioner, which i personally think is amazing. When i use it i can actually feel it healing my lips and it smells amazing. It gives your lips a really great cool, tingling feeling when you put it on. It also works great anywhere on my face if i have dry patches, making them feel a lot smoother just overnight. Priced at £2.99 from Boots it is quite pricey for the size of the tub, but definitely worth it.

Next up is my Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail paint in the shade Blueberry. I first thought that i would try them out as i had seen them recommended on YouTube, saying that they lasted a lot longer than normal nail paint. I then took it to the test but didn't find it that amazing. I guess that it did last a few days longer but you definitely need to put a base coat on underneath. I mainly like it so much because it is the perfect colour for this winter-y season. And from Superdrug it is a great price of  £3.99.

BODY BUTTERS!

The Soap and Glory Righteous Butter is my [Isabelle] all time favourite moisturiser. It's non-greasy, moisturising and smells so good! Unlike some other Soap and Glory products, I find it is really non-greasy which is really good as it means i don't have to worry about my skin being greasy. It also lasts a really long time. Just one splodge can last the whole leg. The smell is so amazing, even Izzy agrees! For the 50ml tub it is £2.50, and it lasts for a long time, so it's not a bad price.

In my stocking this year I [Izzy] got the yummiest body butter! It is the Pink Macaroon Body Butter from H&M. I don't know how much it was as Santa doesn't leave prices on things, obviously. It can leave your skin a little greasy if you use too much. The packaging is so cute and there is a lot in there, especially since you don't need much! It smells incredible. Neither me or Isabelle can work out what it smells like; it is a kind of fresh fruity smell without being too overpowering or strong.

Soap and Glory body product tryouts

For Christmas this year, I received a Soap and Glory gift box which included 5 items. These were the Hand Food hydrating hand cream, The Righteous Butter body moisturizer, Clean On Me moisture shower gel, Scrub Of Your Life super-smoothing body butter and a big pink bath scrunchie. I'm sorry I won't be able to put and prices on these items as they were a present and came in a set.

As I'm sure you well know, all Soap and Glory products smell divine, so that is my first big positive. No one wants to put nasty smelling things on themselves, so a nice smell is big advantage. Unfortunatly, none of the products say what is in them to give the smell.

The Hand Food doesn't leave you hands feeling moisturised for a great deal of time. It only leaves my hands feeling well moistured for around 5 minutes, until my hands feel dry again. It also has a very greasy feel to it, leaving finger prints when I go on my tablet! I don't really recommend this product as the only real positive I have found is the smell!

I really have been enjoying Scrub of Your Life as it leaves my skin feeling silky smooth after I use it. The only downer was that it also leaves me feeling a bit rubbed raw, as I'm sure you get with most exfoliating body washes.

I also have found The Righteous Butter really good as well. Unlike the hand moisturiser, i don't think its at all greasy and I find it moisturising. Its very thick (a lot like butter) and I only need a small amount to cover most of my leg! I think I will be buying this again after its gone.

The Clean On Me just seems like any normal shower gel to me. It smells brilliant but I'm not sure as to how moisturing it is. I don't think it dries out my skin, but I also don't feel any more moisturised than normal after I have used it. I don't think I will be purchasing this after I've used it, as I haven't found anything special about it.

I don't have much to say about the bath scrunchie as it just seems like any other. I'm definetaly glad I tried out these products as I now know what I find worth buying, and what I don't.

A Few Lipstick Reviews

Something I cannot help but love is lipsticks. After watching countless Youtubers and reading blogs I fell in love with the cute colours. Although my collection is small it is growing. They aren't the cheapest things for a sixteen year old and a baby pink and dark red is definitely missing from my collection.

My favourite at the moment has got to be the NV Chunky Crayon in Plum. I got this from Boohoo.com on a whim to get a free dilivery deal as it was only a few pounds off. I didn't have very high expectations but it does last all day however it may need reapplying if you are going out to eat. It has a nice matte feel but doesn't dry out your lips. It is really pigmented and for what you are paying there is a lot in the stick as you do not need to use much at a time.

I am also a really big fan of Rimmel products in general and especially their lipsticks. I love long lasting lipsticks as you do not have to waste it constantly reapplying so when they brought out their 'Lasting Finish Lipstick' I could not wait to try it. I have it in 058. It is a rose pink with a slight shimmer. It can dry out your lips if you do not use chapsticks and lip balms in between. It lasts quite a while but if i'm out for a lo0ng time I do find myself having to reapply it. They are around £8.00, this is a bit more expensive for a high-street brand but it a perfect alternative to more expensive options.

I cannot resist a bright coral in summer so the Maybelline COLOURsensational was ideal. The vibrant colours last all day. I have Coral Tonic(422) its is a bright pinky-coral. It has a moisturizing rich colour and tastes amazing, although, I cannot put my finger on what it is. The casing is really cute and it is definitely my go to lipstick in summer.  It is around the same price as the Rimmel lipsticks.

The Collection 2000 lipsticks are alright, i'm not the biggest fan, the colour does not last long but is okay for a quick trip out. The Volume Sensation tends to dry out my lips. I have it in Tea Rose(12) it is a slightly pink-brown. I also have the Deluxe colour in Prohibition (01).  This is a nice red-pink and I would definitely suggest this as a cheaper option as they were both around £3.00.

I know some people have hundreds of lipsticks but I am hoping to try and get a bigger range of colours throughout the year to help give you all an idea for cheaper lipsticks that are still a good quality.

(Rimmel Drop Of Sherry, NV Colour Plumb, Maybelline Coral Tonic, Collection 2000 Tea Rose, Collection Deluxe Prohibition)

I am also very keen to try the Topshop lipsticks in pink. They have also been recommended and all of their cosmetics are of an unexpectedly good quality for a high-street shop.

What lipsticks would you recommend? Whether they are designer or high-street let us know in the comments below.

My nail varnish experiences

We always hesitate to buy nail varnishes as it can be hard to know what the end result will be. So we thought, why not share our experiences.

To start with, there's Barry M. From my experience, Barry M has been one of the best nail varnishes I have yet used. I think that both the glitter polishes ( pink sapphire and B 251) go extremely well on on top of a purple or a green base, but the goldmine glitter (black and gold) goes best on its own. I most recently tried a Barry M Gelly nail paint in the colour blackberry , as Zoella had recommended them, saying they stayed on for longer than normal nail paints. However I found that they were no different from normal nail paints, unless you put on an extra thick coat as they only stayed without chips for about 2 to 3 days. They are however fantastic value for money as I think they were about £3.99 from Superdrug.

I was surprised at how good the quality of the 2true Crystal nail polish was. I borrowed it from my older sister and was surprised when I looked at the brand name after I had used it, as I expected it to be an expensive one. I find that it looks best as a single nail on the third finger, while the surrounding colour on the other nails is a pale blue.

Another surprise was at the quality of the Primark nail varnish. I found the crackle nail varnish went well on top of any other dark colour and it serperated virtually straight away, however i would recommend using a clear top coat if you don't already.

I bought the angelica nail colour in the shade marshmellow as I wanted a pastal pink for the summer. It was only after I used it that I realised it was a matte effect one. I thought I would hate having no shine but it grew on me and I learnt to like it.

The best nail polish I have come across is Topshop. They are perfect if you need something that will last. They are a little bit more expensive but it is definitely fair pricing considering the quality. They range from £5 to around £6.50.

I also have 4 Rimmel London lasting finish varnishes (in Tangy Tangerine, Moon Walking, Disco Ball and Azure). They give a good colour with a few coats. However with these I recommend a clear top-coat as they chip within a few days.

I did not, however, enjoy the New York Colour quick dry polishes or the Natural collection nail polishes. The two are very similar and i found that although they lasted around 3-4 days with few chips they are very runny and do not give a pigmented finish, in fact it took 3 or 4 coats to get proper coverage from them.

Primani

Primark is a favourite shop of ours, we will often spend at least an hour at a time searching through the mountains of bargains. However, this can have some disadvantages.
We could go on forever about the crap we buy on a weekly basis but some things we will not go near. For example, swimming cozzies. After a disastrous trip to the local swimming pool, that ended in a broken bikini strap and us having to run for towels as our friend screamed with embarrassment, we do not trust them.
Also, high-heels. This is a very specific one because it is only stiletto style heels we are afraid of. We can just imagine limping home with a broken heel and a sore ankle. However wedges are fine and we advise you buy the gel pads that can support your foot to keep your feet  stylish and comfortable.

Usually the jewelry is up to a good standard in Primark and we will not hesitate to purchase items in the future. However for a friends 16th birthday I (Isabelle) bought a nice gold beaded necklace, which an hour into wearing was no longer nice.  It came unthreaded and I had to patch it up using nail varnish and by cutting parts of it off.

We also cannot help but love the variety of gloves that primark have to offer. Between us we have 6 pairs of them. They are cute and snuggly and perfect for the unpredictable British weather. From animal prints to touchscreen finger tips. We have owl, panda and knitted mittens too.

Helloooo...

Our names are Izzy and Isabelle (thus creating Izzelle). We are 16 years old and have spent the past few months avoiding revision and reading blogs. After sitting around marvelling in the work of others, we decided to jump in and make our own.

We realised all of our money was going on beauty, music and high-street brands so who better to ramble on about them than us.
Although we don't expect anyone to listen to us or read our posts we hope that anyone that does enjoys it.

We will alternate between us each week and will choose our own subjects to write about. This could be from personal things to reviews and stories. We don't have any professional experience with these products and are just expressing our view in a way that could potentially help you.

As your honorary big sisters we are able to listen, help and give advice (we hope!)
